Home learning

We use a ‘Take Away Menu’ approach for home learning.  Each half term children receive a list of home learning that will include literacy, numeracy and creative pieces linked with the class topic. Children will then be able to select a piece of home learning to complete each week from the list of those available. The tasks can be completed in any order. The only important deadline to remember, is to ensure that at least one piece is submitted each week on the class ‘hand in day.’

The tasks allow you and your child to decide how you will complete the tasks, as some can be drawn, modelled, filmed, performed or created using different forms of media. From feedback, we know that children often like completing home learning on the computer, if this is the case and you are unable to print it off please email it to school at admin@sandringham.school. Ensure that the child’s name and class teacher is provided in the email and it will then be sent on to the class teacher, who can then share it in class.

Online home learning
This we are continuing to use MyMaths. All children should have unique login details and teachers set online tasks to complete. If you require any assistance with MyMaths do not hesitate to speak to your child's class teacher.

The Wildcard option

This has been very popular with children throughout school, as they are given the opportunity once a half term to share with their peers something that they have done outside of school. The Wildcard option could be anything: from a sport report after watching Doncaster Rovers play; taking part in their own sporting activity; or finding out about a family recipe and learning how to cook it; to a diary of a day out at the Wildlife Park or the seaside. The Wildcard work can be presented using your preferred, creative approach.

Rewards and Consequences

All home learning is logged. Those children who do not complete home learning will complete it during a break time or will be invited to attend home learning club.

Home learning club

On a Thursday at 3.15-4.15, resources are available for parents to complete home learning tasks with children or for children to receive support from a member of staff.
