Starting School in Nursery and Reception

Due to coronavirus, all transition visits to school are postponed until September.

Welcome to all our new nursery and reception pupils

I am delighted to welcome you to Sandringham Primary School.

We would usually be making arrangements for you and your child visit us before the summer break to meet their new teacher and to explore their new classroom environment.

I know that you’ll appreciate that in these most unusual of circumstances that we are unable to go ahead with these plans. Unfortunately, due to the current situation with Coronavirus and in line with ‘social distancing measures’ we have decided to postpone our visits to school until September at the earliest.

In order to help us prepare your child’s transition to Sandringham, it would be helpful if you could please complete the following:
  • Read the ‘Information for Parents’ booklet for detailed information about curriculum, behaviour, uniform, etc
  • Fill out the ‘Starting School Form’ and return it by post to the main office before Monday 6th July along with an copy of your child’s birth certificate.
  • Visit to register your child for milk in school.
We will write to you again before the summer holidays to outline transition arrangements for September, including further information about your child’s class, teacher and the sessions we can offer. In the meantime, if you have any queries please feel free to contact our admin team at and we will do our best to answer your questions.

Tapestry app

Here are some helpful videos to help you get started with the Tapestry app when you  receive your activation email from school. (sometime in WB 29.6.20)

Setting up your account.

How to access and add to your child’s ‘All About Me’ page.

How to add an observation of your child.

The information which you add to your child’s ‘All About Me’ page will be invaluable to the teachers as we plan for the year ahead. We always plan to meet the needs and interests of our children. This information will really help us to get to know your children before they come to school!

The teachers are new to this app so please bear with us while we have a play about and get to grips with all the tools and features which we can use.

If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact us.
