Year 3 and 4 Basketball Competition

posted 24 Jan 2017, 01:14 by Sandringham School
An enthusiastic and excited group of Year 3 and 4 children walked to Danum, ready for the first competition of the school year. Oliver T, Oliver M, Harry B and Amelia N were there to represent Year 3 and Jack W, Ben F, Thomas D, Abbey B, Abbie S and Violet S were there to represent Year 4.

During the games, the teams started to work really well together and could successfully move the ball around the court. We had interception superstars – Ben and Jack - causing their opponents some real problems as they stopped teams moving quickly down the court.

In the final game, all the hard work paid off. During the boys half of the match, they defended well and kept the score at 0-0. Then the girls arrived and scored two baskets. Abbey B and Violet S are a scoring machine! An exciting and thrilling end to the competition.

Although it took until the last match to secure our first victory, each child put in a fantastic and determined performance and was a wonderful sportsman, they played fairly and shook hands with their opponents at the end of every game.

Player of the competition was Jack W for his determination, interception skills and confidence when controlling the ball.
