Barnardo’s ‘See Hear Respond’ service

posted 8 Jul 2020, 09:35 by Chris Metcalfe

See Hear Respond is a service provided across England by Barnardo’s and other national and local community-based organisations in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

The programme has been created to help children and young people in England who are experiencing harm and increased adversity during this period by providing support to those who are not being seen by social care or other key agencies.

Working with its partners, Barnardo’s aims to reduce the likelihood of harm and ensure other support and protective networks are in place using:

  • online digital support, including advice and information, online counselling and a telephone helpline

  • face to face interventions, such as support for groups at risk outside the home and one to one support

  • reintegration into education, including assessments and the delivery of support pathways back to education

See Hear Respond accept referrals from any source either through the Freephone number 0800 151 7015 and via the online referral hub.

I am delighted to share a letter from our CEO confirming that we will be opening to more pupils from Monday 15th June.  Please also find attached further information with details of arrangements at Sandringham. Please visit www.sandringham.school/return for further information, including return dates for Year 6 and indicative dates for Year 1 and Reception, school times, where to drop-off and collect, and safety arrangements.  We have sent individual texts to parents/carers with details of pupils' new classes. Only children with confirmed places should attend.

Following receipt of local public health information, we have revised our provisional dates for wider school opening. This affects pupils in Year 6, Year 1 and Reception, as well as children of critical workers.  Please see the attached letter for further details. We will provide further information about wider opening for nursery pupils in due course.

Letter to parents from our CEO

posted 29 May 2020, 07:50 by Chris Metcalfe   [ updated 29 May 2020, 08:08 ]

The attached letter includes information about wider school opening for pupils in Year 6, Year 1, Reception and Nursery. It explains the reasons that we are not opening to more pupils from 1st June, but that we expect to do so from 15th June, beginning with Year 6.  It also explains that we are unable to continue to provide breakfast club and after school care.  The decision to cease breakfast club and after school care was taken with difficulty, but we wanted to provide parents/carers with as much notice of this as possible.  We anticipate that this provision will end on Friday 12th June and that parents/carers will need to make alternative arrangements from Monday 15th June.

Postponed Wider Opening to Year 6, Year 1, Reception and Nursery

posted 26 May 2020, 09:09 by Chris Metcalfe   [ updated 26 May 2020, 09:10 ]

Further to recent announcements, and in line with the recommendation of Doncaster Mayor Ros Jones, I can confirm that we will not be opening on 1st June to pupils in Year 6, Year 1, Reception and Nursery.  We are however putting in place the safety measures previously shared, so that we can make school as safe as possible, as soon as possible, for all of our pupils and staff. We will provide further information about our intended dates for phased wider opening in the next few days.

Existing provision for children of Critical Workers who have pre-booked places next week is unaffected and we will continue to provide this care.
