Instrumental Lessons

posted 7 Jan 2021, 03:18 by Louise Sutton

We have had a fantastic start to our remote violin lessons today and I am so excited to start clarinets and recorders, along with guitars on Tuesday next week. I have sent all grown-ups an email explaining about this. Once you reply to say you would like to continue your child's instrumental lesson then I will send you the appropriate consent form. Consent is needed because these lessons will take place via Microsoft Teams. Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you haven't received your email with the details on these online lessons, so that I can get your child set up.

Eagles Message for Remote Learning

posted 5 Jan 2021, 02:47 by Michael Campbell

Hi Eagles, Happy New Year! Sadly we aren't all able to come back to school as we'd hoped, but fingers crossed it won't be too long until we're all back together again at school. Don't forget you can always contact me on here or via our class email (eagles@sandringham.school) and I'll do the catch up calls as well to see how you're all doing. We've obviously got a bit of experience of remote learning now, so I'm optimistic that we'll be engaged and that you'll send me lots of really great work. We will be using approaches that we have used during our bubble closure and from next week we will do meetings using Microsoft Teams so we get to see and talk to one another every day. Everyday please make sure you log into Seesaw. You need to complete the English, Maths, Spelling, Reading, and Wider Curriculum activity that has been allocated to you. There will be an optional well-being and mindfulness task, but this one does not need to be completed. It's just optional for if you're in the mood. The timetable of tasks and the tasks will be released by 3pm on the day before so you can be ready for the activities. You can do tasks in any order but it is important that you complete all tasks. Please ask questions if you are at all unsure. You know I can’t wait to see what you produce so work hard and make sure you submit all your tasks every day. Take care and I'll be in touch, Mr Campbell Good morning to all the Eagles Class grown-ups, I hope you are all ok? If you've any questions at all during this time, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me. You can email me anytime and I will reply as soon as I see it. eagles@sandringham.school Take care Mr Campbell

Welcome back for 2021!

Hello Eagle Class,

I am looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow.
Here are a few reminders for when you return to school:
  • Please arrive in our allocated time slot. We're still 8:40 in the morning.
  • Remember to remain socially distant from friends in other bubbles
  • Remember to not be in close contact with friends from your own bubble - No hugging in the playground when you first see one another.
  • Remember no school bags are needed in school - on your PE day you can come in your PE kit. Your PE day will be Tuesday
  • Remember to bring reading books and reading diaries each day in a plastic food bag
  • No snacks need to come into school now as our fruit bowls are filled daily
  • Remember to dress to keep warm in the classroom as all the windows will be open throughout the school day
  • Remember to access Seesaw for home learning and to upload your home learning. Home learning books do not need to come into school
See you tomorrow

Whistle Stop Opera: Cinderella – A Christmas gift from Opera North…

posted 13 Dec 2020, 02:57 by Louise Sutton

This song resource is being sent out in advance of us sending out our free Whistle Stop Opera: Cinderella performance film to schools by the beginning of next week, so children have time to learn the short song in preparation for watching and joining in with the performance!

This is being sent out as a Christmas gift from Opera North, as we realise it hasn’t been possible for schools to undertake Christmas trips out to the theatre during this festive season. We hope this will bring the magic of opera to pupils and teachers and will be the next best thing to bringing a live Christmas production.

Please find links to the resources below:

Please find a copy of the song lyrics attached.

Our Highlights so far!

posted 8 Dec 2020, 08:05 by Jade Toop

Hi Everyone,

I hope you have enjoyed your first term in year 6, as much as I have!

In Eagle class, we have been doing some fantastic learning and we have lots more to come. The children have been thoroughly enjoying our WW2 topic, creating some great presentations for Remembrance day and using their knowledge to write great diaries and newspaper articles. They are very excited to design them, which will be available on Seesaw. This term in Science children have learnt about electricity and creating their own circuits, which we are using in our Christmas cards this year.

After the Christmas holidays, we will be starting our new topic based on the book Gorilla Dawn. We will be looking at Africa and the evolution of animals. Key highlights will include creating African art and cooking.

I also thought it would be useful to update you on some key reminders:
- The children have PE on a Wednesday so if they could come to school in their PE kits that would be great!
- Home learning and reading 3 times a week is due on a Friday to earn their free time.
- If children can practice times tables and spelling each week that would benefit them in lessons.

Thank you for all your hard work and dedication!

From Mr Campbell

Children's University

Hello to my lovely musicians. Everyone who has an instrumental lesson in school are all now set up online to be able to record their instrumental lesson each week. When you go for your violin, clarinet, guitar, or recorder lesson please ask your teacher for a sticker and put it in your passport - or if you forget your reading diary. Your grown-ups can then log your hours on the children university website:

https://login.childrensuniversity.co.uk/Account/Login

On your sticker is the stamp - which is the colour and four digit code.

Any problems please email me: arts@sandringham.school

Instrumental Lessons

posted 6 Oct 2020, 12:30 by Louise Sutton

All new recorder, clarinet and violin places have now been taken, which is great news and the families of the children concerned have been contacted. You should have received an email from myself with either a letter in regards to clarinet lessons or a sign up link from the music service for violin lessons. If you have signed your child up and haven't received an email then please don't hesitate to contact me. Recorder players have been sent a text message asking them to remember their recorder on Friday.

I am really excited that despite the current circumstances that performing arts is still a priority at Sandringham and am really excited to hear the lessons develop, as we prepare for our virtual Christmas Concert!

Secondary Schools

posted 29 Sept 2020, 11:19 by Michael Campbell

Dear parents,

It is that time of year when you will be busy picking and applying for secondary school places. I realise this year will be different as schools will not run their usual open day/evening events. We would therefore recommend taking a look at the websites for the secondary schools in Doncaster or the ones you are interested in.

Outwood Danum have confirmed that they will only be holding a virtual event this year. Invitations and information about the event will be coming to you shortly.

We will keep you up to date with anything that secondary schools share.

Please don't hesitate to email or contact the office if you have any questions.

Thank you,

Mr Campbell
