Hi Dragons,

I hope you have all had a lovely Christmas! Thankyou so much for the lovely cards and gifts. I opened them all on Christmas day and felt so grateful to have such an amazing class.

As you will all know, most of us will  be doing our lessons at home for the next several weeks, but don't worry we will do them together.
I will be adding some lesson and activities for today and this week, on seesaw. If you have any difficulties with logging on, please email our school admin.

Starting next week, I will be teaching you all live on TEAMs.
We all need to be online and ready to take the register at 9am (links and information on how to access this will be sent to you),

Timetable:
9am: Register and Live  Literacy lesson on Teams

10.30 am: Live Maths lesson on Teams

Afternoon lessons will also be provided on Seesaw
Reading
Spellings practise
Topic lesson

I know it might feel a little difficult and strange at first but I think it will be really great once we have got used to it.
Have a go at the activities I will set this week and I will see you on Teams next week!

Mrs Shaw xxxx

Happy Christmas!

Wow - what a busy but brilliant term!  We have been learning all about algorithms and  programming to help us navigate  the Iron man out of trouble. We have also explored how rubbish ad waste are managed, as well as finding out about the wonderful world of magnets and forces.
We are now on the count down to Christmas and we will be getting festive and crafty next week.
Next term we will be starting our new text 'Charlie and the chocolate factory' and we will be studying 'Where chocolate comes from'.
I hope you all have a lovely Christmas.

Whistle Stop Opera: Cinderella – A Christmas gift from Opera North…

posted 13 Dec 2020, 02:46 by Louise Sutton

This song resource is being sent out in advance of us sending out our free Whistle Stop Opera: Cinderella performance film to schools by the beginning of next week, so children have time to learn the short song in preparation for watching and joining in with the performance!

This is being sent out as a Christmas gift from Opera North, as we realise it hasn’t been possible for schools to undertake Christmas trips out to the theatre during this festive season. We hope this will bring the magic of opera to pupils and teachers and will be the next best thing to bringing a live Christmas production.

Seesaw !

Hi Dragons!
I just wanted to remind you and your adults about our great new home learning platform, Seesaw, which has just launched. We have put some Maths and English activities on there for  this week and you can also find the Iron Man home learning ideas for this term. Mrs Bentley and I cann't wait to see what you come up with! Your adults should have received information about how to access Seesaw, but, to make it easy, here is the information again....

The platform can be accessed using:
 a web browser on a laptop/PC or a free app for smartphones and tablets (the app can be downloaded from
the App Store or Google Play)
 a personal QR code which we will send separately with log in instructions.

It is important that you are able to log in to Seesaw. In the event of any class closures or for children who are
isolating, we will also use the platform to set daily learning tasks. Children will be able to complete tasks at home and
upload them for their class teacher to provide feedback. Here is a short video you can watch to find out how to use
the app: https://cutt.ly/seesaw-tutorial

From Thursday 1st October we will also be using the platform to set home learning activities. Children in Years 1 to 6
will be set a weekly English or Maths task linked to their current learning. We will also share our topic takeaway list.
This is a list of tasks from which you can select an activity each week to support your children in developing their
knowledge of the topic. Children may complete tasks in their Home Learning Book or, alternatively, you may get
creative and upload their home learning on the Seesaw app!

We think you are really going to enjoy using Seesaw but if you have any problems, just get in touch.

Hi Dragons, I hope you are as excited as I am to be starting back at school tomorrow. Don't worry if you feel a bit nervous though, that's just natural and by the end of the first day, you will be absolutely fine. See you in the morning!
