English comprehension - Thursday 8th October

Today, I have put together a comprehension activity looking at analysing words and phrases that the author uses to help us find out about Bill. You need to be a detective and decide what you think the phrases tell us. Take care not to use the text to explain your thinking. For example, some people told me on Tuesday that Bill had the worst night ever because the text said he had had the worst night ever. I know that but what would a detective identify. A detective would identify that if Bill said it had been the worst night ever it shows me that it was a night where Bill was sad or devastated about the events and probably that more destruction and deaths had occurred.
