Remote learning
Hi everyone, Attached you can find this week's timetable. Any questions please email us (chameleons@sandringham.school). |
Whistle Stop Opera: Cinderella – A Christmas gift from Opera North…
This song resource is being sent out in advance of us sending out our free Whistle Stop Opera: Cinderella performance film to schools by the beginning of next week, so children have time to learn the short song in preparation for watching and joining in with the performance! This is being sent out as a Christmas gift from Opera North, as we realise it hasn’t been possible for schools to undertake Christmas trips out to the theatre during this festive season. We hope this will bring the magic of opera to pupils and teachers and will be the next best thing to bringing a live Christmas production. Please find links to the resources below: An invitation from Fairy Godmother: https://youtu.be/VNYBTsxOtkw Cinderella’s Song Resource: https://youtu.be/t9vUjRlucnE Please find a copy of the song lyrics attached. |
Chameleons have had an exciting and very busy half term.
We have been busy practising our phonics ready for the phonics screening check. We are proud of all the children’s’ efforts when practising reading alien words and real words. As part of our knights and castles topic, we have been using our geography skills to locate castles around the country and to plan a route to a local castle. In music we have composed our own hairy scary castle song and accompanied it with percussion instruments. This term in history children have been exploring life in a castle. They have learnt about the features of a medieval castles and the roles of the people living inside them. We have also continued to be scientists carrying out experiments, exploring different materials and their properties. We have enjoyed our PE sessions with our Activ8 coach on a Monday, who has been teaching us some new skills. We have also taken part in another Activ8 PE competition, which was great fun!
Well done to all those children who continue to upload their weekly Maths and English work on Seesaw and also the creative pieces you have added as part of our topic. We have been busy rehearsing for our virtual Christmas concert, we hope you enjoy it! Look out for a message telling you when this will be available to watch.
Term 2a Next half term we will explore the enquiry question "How is where I live unique?". In Geography we will get to learn more about our local area and other places around the world. In Science we will learn about materials and forces. In History we will compare old and new buildings. We will also learn about an important female aviator and her journey to Australia! Reminders: From January our PE day will be changing to a Friday - please come with outdoor PE kit on. Christmas jumper day on the 11th December. Please can children’s reading diaries be updated and brought to school on Thursday for staff to check whether the child has read 3 or more times that week. A special thank you to all parents and carers for supporting the children and school by following the routines and rules. Mrs Watts and Mrs Smithard |
A BIG Musical Thankyou
Hello Year 2, I just want to say a HUGE thankyou and a big well done in all your music lessons this half term. I have loved receiving a video from your teachers each week showing me what you've been doing and how you've gotten on. Thank you for your commitment and dedication to music this term and I am already excited for Term 2. Have a fabulous Christmas. Mrs Sutton |
Class newsletter
Chameleons, myself and Mrs Watts would like to share what we have been busy learning this term. It's been very exciting to be back at school after half-term and everyone's settled in very well! In term 1a children had many opportunities to talk about and share their lockdown experiences. We focused on learning new rules and routines that help keep everyone safe. We took part in an Activ8 PE competition in which Sandringham came 2nd - well done us. In Y2 we were especially excited to learn about knights and castles within our topic and it's been great to see so many children and families get involved in the home learning tasks! Get Bright Day – a big thank you to all families for your efforts, the children were super excited and looked really colourful! In term 1b we are going to be scientists and do different experiments, exploring different materials and their properties. Children are learning about Diwali, which is celebrated on the 14th November and some have created their own Rangoli patterns as part of the home learning. We have celebrated Remembrance day on the 11th November and took part in a whole school virtual event. Reminders: PE on Mondays - please come with outdoor PE kit on. Christmas jumper day on the 11th December. Please can children’s reading diaries be updated and brought to school on Thursday for staff to check whether the child has read 3 or more times that week. A special thank you to all parents and carers for supporting the children and school by following new routines and rules. |
Hairy Scary Castle
Wow! Wow! Wow! Chameleon's I have just watched your hairy scary castle song and it has blown me away! You are doing such an awesome job with your music lessons and I can't stop smiling. You have thought really carefully about the rhythms and the tuneful singing was awesome! You kept your singing going right through to the end of the song and I loved that absolutely everyone gave it go!
I am so excited to plan your lessons over the half term holiday ready for when we come back.
Thankyou so much for doing the lessons and engaging so well. Shh...... but you are BEST class at music at the moment!!

Music Lesson
Chameleons! You have done such an amazing job with your first music lesson! You have remembered those terms beat and rhythm well and I could see from all your faces how much you were concentrating! Thank you so much for being the first to try out my video lesson and to send me your outcomes. I really can't wait to see how you get on next week too! I told Mrs Smithard it was really strange seeing you in the Y2 classroom but I can really see how well you have settled into Year 2 and I know now how ready you are for your Y2 music lessons, even if I can't get into your classroom yet to deliver them in person. You have made me smile from ear to ear and my husband thought I was crying... I had tears of joy watching how well you had engaged and gotten on. Mrs Galloway will be really pleased with your dance moves when I speak to her. The roar was the best! Good luck next week, but I know you will be awesome! Mrs S xx |
